Photographer
\nZoe Mack impressed the society with a series of fifteen photographs depicting
\nwork carried out in leather tanneries in Fez, Morocco, and in Marrakech.<\/p>\n

\u2018It is a
\nprivilege to be able to photograph such diverse parts of the world and a real
\nhonour to have my work recognised by the RPS,’ Zoe said.<\/p>\n

Zoe made the
\ndecision to include faceless portraits when she was struck by the anonymity and
\nisolation of the way work was carried out in the tanneries.<\/p>\n

She explained
\nthat most of her shoots were conducted first thing in the morning, partly
\nbecause of the tourists and partly because the stench of ammonia from softening
\nagents would curtail later visits.<\/p>\n

The RPS says
\nthat to be awarded an Associateship, a photographer must demonstrate \u2018a high
\nstandard of technical competence, creative ability and a personal style.’ The
\nhonour was presented to Zoe at the Hilton in Bath in June.<\/p>\n
