The EOS M5 combines a 24.2-million-pixel APS-C imaging sensor with a Digic 7 processor and Dual Pixel CMOS AF. Trumpeted as a landmark in Canon\u2019s mirrorless line-up, Canon hopes it will also appeal to high-end photographers to use as a compact camera.<\/p>\n

The M5 is due out at the end of November, priced \u00a31,049 (body only) or \u00a31,149 (with EF-M 15-45mm f\/3.5-6.3 IS STM). A \u00a31,399 kit that includes an EF-M 18-150mm f\/3.5-6.3 IS STM is to be released in mid-December.<\/p>\n

Features include gapless micro lenses to maximise the sensor area \u2013 to help boost pixel light sensitivity \u2013 a top ISO of 25,600, maximum burst rate of nine frames per second (with fixed AF), Full HD video and five-axis image stabilisation.<\/p>\n\"product-4-web\"\n

Borrowing technology from the EOS 80D\u2019s sensor, the M5 boasts better dynamic range.<\/p>\n

Also on board is built-in Wi-Fi, enabling a smartphone to be used to control the camera remotely, for example.<\/p>\n

All M5s sold in the UK will include an EF-EOS M mount adapter.<\/p>\n

\u2022 The M5 will be launched alongside a new EF-M 18-150mm f\/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens that carries a seven-blade diaphragm designed to give smooth out-of-focus blur.
\nThe lens, which will have full compatibility with the EOS M5\u2019s 5-axis electronic IS, weighs 300g and features a \u20184-stop\u2019 image stabiliser. It is due out in mid-December for \u00a3429. Canon has also revealed some more accessories for the EOS M5, although details are scant. The EH29-CJ body jacket is a leather half-case in black or brown, and there will also be a matching EM-300DB premium neckstrap.<\/p>\n

\n Nuance of colour and delicacy of light are captured beautifully with the EOS M5 thanks to DIGIC 7, which offers boosted image processing power for lower noise, more detail and richer tones. When combined with Dual Pixel CMOS AF, spontaneous moments can be frozen thanks to DSLR-level AF speeds and accuracy, while sophisticated recognition and subject tracking of DIGIC 7 helps the camera lock onto subjects for longer and more precisely in both movies and stills.
