Nikon has announced the D5600, a DSLR for advanced beginners and enthusiast photographers. It’s essentially a minor\u00a0update to\u00a0last year’s D5500, gaining the latest version of Nikon’s Snapbridge smartphone connectivity. This includes an\u00a0‘always on’ Bluetooth LE connection, which\u00a0allows every image taken\u00a0to be transferred automatically to a smart device. The Wi-Fi connection can also be used to control the camera remotely.<\/p>\n

Other updates in the Nikon D5600 include the addition of a built-in intervalometer for timelapse shooting, and a couple of new touchscreen functions. Users can engage Auto ISO using a touch button during viewfinder shooting,\u00a0while a frame advance bar previously seen on the high-end D500 and D5\u00a0allows quick browsing through images in playback.<\/p>\n

Aside from this, the D5600 inherits the D5500’s core feature set, including a 24.2-million-pixel DX format image sensor, 39-point autofocus system, and fully-articulating 3.2″ touchscreen.<\/p>\n

The D5600 will cost \u00a3799.99 in a kit with the AF-P Nikkor 18-55mm f\/3.5-5.6G VR lens, or \u00a3989.99 with the AF-S Nikkor 18-140mm f\/3.5-5.6D VR. It’s due to go on sale on the 24th November.<\/p>\n

An ISO range of 100-25600, and an expanded ISO sensitivity of 6400 in Night Landscape mode, ensures low-light scenes and difficult lighting situations are handled with ease. Thanks to Nikon\u2019s SnapBridge, users can automatically sync photos to a smart device, as they shoot, and then share the inspiring results right there in the moment. With the D5600, SnapBridge also makes it possible to use the connected smart device to shoot remotely via the camera\u2019s built-in Wi-Fi\u00ae capability (1). During viewfinder shooting, the refined touch Fn function offers an intuitive alternative to using the command dial or multi-selector: now photographers can operate the Auto Sensitivity control, as well as selecting the focus point or adjusting other important settings, via the large touchscreen. And a frame advance bar, inherited from Nikon\u2019s professional D5 and D500 cameras, makes it possible to quickly scroll through images in playback mode. For movie shooters, the new Time-Lapse Movie function (inherited from Nikon\u2019s high-end DSLRs) makes it simple to transform slow-moving scenes into dramatic high-speed sequences.<\/span><\/p>\n
